Patterson: One-stop shops to help storm-impacted Hoosiers access recovery resources
STATEHOUSE (Sept. 14, 2026) – State Rep. Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville) is encouraging Fayette and Franklin County residents impacted by the August severe weather and flooding to take advantage of upcoming one-stop shops offering assistance with storm recovery.
The one-stop shops will bring representatives from multiple state and federal agencies together at a single location to help residents learn about available resources and navigate the recovery process. Several services may be completed on-site.
"I want residents in Fayette and Franklin counties to know they don't have to navigate the recovery process alone," Patterson said. "These one-stop shops will make it easier for families to connect with the agencies and resources they need as they work to rebuild and recover."
Services available may include:
- Federal assistance: FEMA Individual Assistance application support and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan information;
- Housing support: Temporary housing assistance;
- Social services: Crisis counseling and mental health service referrals;
- Insurance guidance: Help reviewing insurance policies and replacing documents;
- Motor vehicle assistance: Support with registrations and licenses;
- Public health resources: Vaccination records, vital records, tetanus shots and cleanup guidance; and
- State Disaster Relief Fund: Assistance with SDRF applications.
The Franklin County one-stop shop will be held at Metamora Church of God, 20146 US 52 in Laurel, from Wednesday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET each day.
The Fayette County one-stop shop will be held at Connersville Baptist Temple, 1380 SR 44 in Connersville, Thursday, Sept. 17, through Friday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET, and Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
Residents should bring a valid state ID if they have one. Transportation services may be available in certain communities. Individuals who need transportation assistance can call 211 or 866-211-9966.
